Dallas county has the highest number of exonerations of any county in the country. And why is that?

It’s a very interesting collaboration between the prosecutors in Dallas county and today and these defense attorneys and the law students who comprise the innocence project of Texas. Many volunteers have comment the district attorney’s office and defense attorney essentially opening all of his case files, his felony case files to the innocence project of Texas, so they can pull through them look for examples for prosecutorial misconduct and then follow up with DNA examination of these cases that they believe may have put an innocence man in jail.
One of the prisoners who has been released, James Woodard, what is his story?
James Woodard was convicted of murder back in 1981 in Dallas county. He always insisted he was innocent, he was convicted of killing of his girl friend, and witness had place Woodard and his girl friend together on the night of her death. He has been in prison now for 27 years. So justice last week, Woodard appealed in court, the district attorney apologized to him for the first time in 27 years. He walked down of the court house, a free man.
